“Everyone you meet always asks if you have a career, are married, or own a house as if life was some kind of grocery list. But no one ever asks If you are happy.” – Heath Ledger
Man is unhappy because he desires. He wants something or somebody to fulfill his Happiness. No animal, no other creature is unhappy. Why is it so?
Man’s tendency is to put conditions on happiness. Suppose, I desire a BMW and then I wish to be happy, then I will never be happy. Because of the moment, my desire is fulfilled, I will move on to my next desire. The tendency for conditional happiness then becomes a mind pattern. And unless this pattern is broken, I cannot be happy.
Who creates this unhappiness?
The answer is The Mind.
The mind always dwells in the past or in the future. Happiness is always in the present moment. One has to go away from this mind in order to be happy. But the mind gets in between and takes us away by putting some or the other conditions.
Existence is always available in the Present. Happiness is our Existence. Our true intrinsic Nature. When we drift away from our Nature, we let the Mind occupy us. And then our Mind does the rest.
The Solution is to Watch the mind as a Witness. Not to be judgemental. And the Mind slowly comes to a Still, for a Moment of Happiness.
