Buddha says “Your beliefs don’t make you a better person, your behavior does.”
How often do we see people who tend to have good thoughts, positive beliefs, and so-called religion-spiritual mind patterns, and when we dig deeper into their personality and behaviors we find them all to be very superficial.
Many people advocate for others not to be angry or jealous or cruel to somebody. They go on reciting fancy proverbs just to make themselves feel proud of the thinking that he or she has. But the moment somebody talks ill about them or if some other person gets a promotion or purchases a better luxurious car, they start behaving totally differently. This is because the positive thoughts or beliefs that were superficial had not actively assimilated inside their genes and blood and were unable to become a part of their body.
Ask someone what is Religion, what is God, and what is Soul? He shall be ready to answer all your questions without looking inside even for a moment to see whether he himself has experienced anything of that kind. But, because he is so full of knowledge about scriptures, not only shall he talk about them but if you ask him about anything else in the universe he shall reply to that also. By the time people grow up many forget the difference between reel and real.
Buddha once said, “You must first Awake and then all your Beliefs will turn into Experience.” Once you are Awake, your behavior will not be the same as before. That Awakening will go deep inside your bones, your muscles and will become a part of your blood cells, your very breath.
